Chief Executive Officer
New York Solidarity Network
The Role
NYSN is hiring a CEO to lead a long-term initiative building Jewish civic infrastructure across all 51 New York City Council districts.
The organization, founded several years ago, has hundreds of dues-paying members, a full-time staff and a seven-figure annual budget. We're looking for someone to take what exists and scale it.
This is a minimum four-year commitment, aligned with the 2029 City Council elections when term limits will create 40+ open seats.
Why This Matters
The City Council controls billions in spending and sets policy on public safety, schools, and housing. In New York, Democratic primaries are the real elections. Small margins in low-turnout races determine outcomes.
Candidates hostile to Jewish interests have been winning these races—often because they face no organized opposition. Legacy Jewish organizations aren't set up to mobilize voters or support candidates at the local level. NYSN was built to fill that gap and educate New York’s Jewish community on how to best to take civic action.
We are member-driven, action-oriented, and focused on New York City and State—where the decisions that affect your neighborhood, your schools, and your safety are actually made.
What You'll Do
Lead the organization. You'll manage an existing and growing team including a Chief of Staff, Civic Engagement Director, Field Director, and staff and consultants supporting events, development, membership, and operations. Build capacity for a citywide strategy.
Own the 2029 strategy. Develop and execute a four-year plan: district targeting, candidate recruitment, endorsement criteria, resource allocation. Work with the Board to guide members' giving toward endorsed candidates and causes through Solidarity PAC and partner organizations.
Be the public voice. Represent NYSN in media, at community events, and with elected officials. Build coalitions with partners who share our interest in safe streets, strong schools, and a city that works.
Raise money. Lead major donor cultivation alongside the Board and Senior Advisors. Own budget and financial management.
Grow membership. Membership is the foundation of NYSN's influence. Drive recruitment and ensure programming reinforces the mission.
Work with the Board. Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors, major donors, and strategic partners.
What Success Looks Like
By 2029, NYSN has endorsed candidates and coordinated member support in all 51 City Council districts. Membership has grown significantly. The organization is a recognized force in city and state races—candidates seek our endorsement, elected officials take our calls, and the Jewish community has a credible vehicle for civic engagement at the local level.
Who Should Apply
You've built something—an organization, a campaign, a company—not just managed something that already existed.
You can walk into a room of elected officials and be taken seriously, and connect just as well in a living room in Queens.
You understand New York City's civic landscape, or can learn it fast.
You are energized by building influence in New York, not just running a nonprofit.
You have the presence to be a public leader, not just an internal operator.
You do not need to come from a traditional Jewish organizational background or have held a CEO title before.

Demonstrated experience and track records of success working alongside local government officials, government employees and constituents.
Demonstrated experience and track records of success working in a bipartisan civic environment.
